The Weather Outside is Weather

There’s a saying in New England - ‘if you don’t like the weather wait an hour and it will change’. Today was the embodiment of that - started with grey skies, then heavy rain and thunder and lightening, followed by sunshine, more rain and now heavy clouds with the sun shining through in spots, lighting up the cloud cover as the sun sets. All in a days work up here.
We’re lucky enough to have a beautiful office in downtown Boston with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, the North End, Logan airport and Boston Harbor so I get to watch the sky and storms as they roll through (also see a lot of planes landing and helicopters hovering).
I am very interested in the weather. The ever-changing nature of New England’s weather is one reason, but it also seems to be a form of predicting the future and I am also interested in that.
We have a Slack channel at work called thewxoutsideiswx (fun meteorological fact - wx derives from Morse code for weather) to discuss our weather and share silly weather gifs. The weather is better when you’re prepared!
Last week we were lucky enough to see two almost complete rainbows from our office windows after some storms rolled through. Some people thought my shriek of delight when I realized they were there was a bit much, but eventually, most of the office was standing with noses pressed against the panes admiring the sight.
Every rainbow is special in my opinion and a good omen and in the case of these rainbows worked out well as the Red Sox won the World Series last night.  Not a big baseball fan, and it’s like the third time in 15 years but it was a special day in the city.
The sky is turning pink as the sun sets and my bus approaches my stop. ‘Day is done, gone the sun,  from the hills, from the plains, nighttime is nigh’.
